Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Irma, high school football in Florida is in complete shambles. Multiple counties on the western coast of Florida still do not have school, and have yet to reschedule any of their games. In Palm Beach County, games cancelled due to the hurricane will be rescheduled Monday, October 2nd, where teams will have to play three games in just seven days. The problem, though, is not every county has such an easy solution. Multiple fields across Florida are completely destroyed.

There is a lot of damage in South Florida and Florida in general. If you are interested, please donate here.
Anyways, back to football...
DJ Ivey

This week, and for the first time, DJ Ivey and South Date High School will be highlighted with their matchup against Miami-Jackson High School. Both teams have started the year 2-0, meaning one will finish the night with a loss and the other with their undefeated streak going in the right direction. Miami-Jackson has traditionally prided themselves on stout defense, and this year is no difference. Jackson has started the year with two shutouts, and in order for South Dade to win, they’ll need the offense to muster up some production. This week, even if Ivey does have a great game, it might not be enough.

As seen above in my Irma PSA, American Heritage’s field was damaged, but that doesn’t mean the action stops. Tonight, American Heritage will face Chaminade-Madonna. Chaminade has started the season 1-1, but their only loss coming to Miami Central, who beat Bishop Gorman. Look for a very competitive game, as Chaminade isn’t afraid to play talented teams.
UPDATE: American Heritage-Chaminade will be televised on ESPNU. Kickoff is at 7pm. Check it out!
GAME OF THE WEEK: Artur Sitkowski & Brian Hightower

Today’s game of the week highlights IMG Academy and Miami Central. As mentioned in Silvera’s blurb, Miami Central has started the season undefeated (with a win against Brevin Jordan and Bishop Gorman) and looks to be IMG Academy’s toughest opponent of the year. This year, the defense for Central, the run-game, and everything in-between is clicking on all cylinders for Central. This is easily the best game of the week and most likely the year. Sitkowski and Hightower have a big test, as they need to outplay Central’s defense while keeping up with Central’s offense.
