Canes Hoops drop out of AP Top 25, ranked 23rd in Coaches Poll

Despite recent win over NC State, the loss to Duke helped push the Hurricanes out of the ranks of the ranked

For the first time this season, the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team is not ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings. But the Canes remained ranked in the USA Today Coaches Poll, coming in at No. 23.

Miami’s most recent game was an 86-81 win over North Carolina State. But the Hurricanes have been trending downward in the rankings for the last couple of weeks thanks to losing three out of its last five games. The Hurricanes’ 83-75 home loss against Duke last Monday is what knocked Miami out of the AP rankings.

This week’s schedule for the Canes includes a Wednesday night home matchup against the Louisville Cardinals (8 p.m. on ESPN2) and a Saturday afternoon trip up to Tallahassee to face the rival Florida State Seminoles (4 p.m. on ACC Network Extra).
