On Friday afternoon, Miami Hurricanes CB Michael Jackson announced his decision to return to Miami for his senior season.
A key player on Miami’s defense, Jackson made huge strides as a junior. A seldom-used player over the first part of his career, Jackson posted career highs with 43 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 4 interceptions, 4 PBUs, and a fumble recovery in 2017.
This is the first decision from an underclassman defender for the Canes. Jackson returning to the secondary should help that group have consistency next season, but there’s more out there.
DTs RJ McIntosh and Kendrick Norton both have NFL Draft decisions to make, so that will be something to watch moving forward.
For now, Miami has a talented DB returning to the secondary, and he’ll be a key member of that group in 2018.
Welcome back, Mike!
