The ACC has proven to be the most competitive basketball conference once again, as seven teams from the conference are ranked in the preseason Associated Press Poll: Duke (4), Virginia (5), North Carolina (8), Virginia Tech (15), Syracuse (16), Florida State (17) and Clemson (22). Miami was one of 4 additional ACC teams to receive votes in the poll.

The Canes return starters Dewan Hernandez, Anthony Lawrence and Dejan Vasiljevic, as well as key contributors Chris Lykes, Ebuka Izundu and Sam Waardenburg. Joining the rotation will be transfers Zach Johnson and Anthony Mack. After losing Lonnie Walker IV, Bruce Brown Jr and JaQuan Newton from last years squad, someone will have to step up with increased production to keep the Canes in the ACC and tournament conversation. Canes fans should feel confident in that happening, as Coach Jim Larranaga has outperformed his team’s preseason ranking in each of his seven seasons in Miami.

The Canes return to the court on Tuesday with an exhibition game against Barry at home, before officially opening their season November 9th at home against Lehigh, Be sure to check in with State of the U as we begin previewing the 2018-19 season!
