Here’s who to keep an eye on in the ACC this week.

Miami needs a few things to happen in order for them to make the ACC Championship Game, but the most important thing is getting a win tonight. Let’s get into who you should be rooting for in the ACC this weekend.

Thursday, October 25th

Georgia Tech 49, Virginia Tech 28

The Hokies were absolutely dismantled by a bad Georgia Tech team on national television Thursday night. Georgia Tech’s win helps Miami by giving VT another conference loss, but now the ACC Coastal Division appears weak and disappointing. It’s hard to find another chance for another impressive win for Miami on the schedule, especially after this horrific outing from Virginia Tech.

Friday, October 26th

Miami (5-2. 2-1 ACC) at Boston College (5-2, 2-1 ACC), 7:00 P.M Eastern, ESPN

Miami and Boston College both come into this game a little disappointed with their seasons so far. Boston College rose into the Top 25 before losing to Purdue. The Eagles still hoped to challenge in the ACC Atlantic, but those hopes were snuffed out with a loss to North Carolina State. However, it’s red bandanna night in Chestnut Hill, and the Eagles will have a lot of energy against what seems like a deflated Miami team. The ‘Canes saw any hope of a chance at the College Football Playoff slip away against Virginia, and now they must focus on winning the ACC’s Coastal Division.

Obviously we are rooting for Miami in this game. Hopefully the ‘Canes can settle down and find their way to calm in what has been a hectic last few weeks.

Saturday, October 27th

No. 2 Clemson (7-0, 4-0 ACC) at Florida State (4-3, 2-3 ACC), 12:00 P.M Eastern, ABC

The Clemson Tigers roll into Tallahassee looking to continue their dominance in the ACC. Last week the Tigers handled business against NC State with a 41-7 win that truly displayed just how far out of reach they are from the rest of the ACC. Meanwhile, FSU continues to struggle this season, with many concerned that they won’t qualify for a bowl game for the first time in what seems like an eternity. There’s a lot on the line here for both teams, and FSU desperately needs a marquee win to get the program back on track.

Root for Clemson in this game, the conference already looks weak, and a Clemson loss would only serve to take away what little credibility the ACC has left.

Wake Forest (3-4, 0-3 ACC) at Louisville (2-5, 0-4 ACC), 12:00 P.M Eastern, ACCNE

Wake Forest and Louisville have turned out to be two of the most disappointing teams in the conference this season. Louisville seemingly gets closer and closer to firing Bobby Petrino, while Wake Forest has seemed noncompetitive against talented teams in the ACC. If Wake Forest finds a way to win on the road at Louisville, it could be the end of Bobby Petrino’s time in The Bluegrass State.

Root for Wake Forest in this game, it would be nice to see the Demon Deacons finally get their first conference win of the season, especially against an opponent that normally handles them with ease.

UNC (1-5, 1-3 ACC) at Virginia (5-2, 3-1 ACC), 12:20 P.M Eastern, ACCNE

North Carolina is one of the weakest teams in the ACC, and this week they must go on the road and face a Virginia team that is on a roll. The Cavaliers are in the driver’s seat of the ACC Coastal Division following their defeat of Miami, and they’ll bring a lot of energy in pursuit of a Coastal Division title. Additionally, Larry Fedora faces questions about his abilities to coach North Carolina, and a loss would make his seat even hotter.

Root for North Carolina in this game. Miami needs Virginia to lose another game to have any chance at an appearance in the ACC Championship Game.

Duke (5-2, 1-2 ACC) at Pitt (3-4, 2-1 ACC), 3:30 P.M Eastern, ACCNE

Duke got out to a quick start this season, but once again the Blue Devils have stumbled in ACC play, and they’ll hope to get back on track against a Pitt team that has steadily improved this season. The Panthers gave Notre Dame a scare a few weeks ago, and Pitt is beginning to show signs of improvement as their young team gains more experience.

Root for Duke in this game, it’d be advantageous for Miami if Pitt had two conference losses this season, in order to provide separation between them and the Hurricanes.

No.22 NC State (5-1, 2-1 ACC) at Syracuse (5-2, 2-2 ACC), 7:00 P.M Eastern, ESPN2

NC State is reeling after a blowout loss at the hands of the Clemson Tigers, and now they must go on the road and face Syracuse, who has one of the most dynamic offenses in the ACC. Syracuse has shown a lot of talent and grit this season, but lost in a heart-wrenching way against Clemson earlier in the season, effectively ending their hopes at a run for the ACC title. NC State must be sharp in this game, because Syracuse will take advantage if the Wolfpack are deflated after last weekend.

Root for Syracuse in this game, it’s always fun to see an upset in College Football, especially for a program who’s been struggling for several years.

That’s all for this week, enjoy the games and make sure you keep your eye trained on the ACC.
