ACC Power Rankings - Week 10

1. Clemson Tigers 8-0 (LW: 1), Week 9 Result: 59-10 W @ Florida State, Next: vs Louisville 11/3 12:00pm ET

Clemson appears poised to return to the College Football Playoff. The Tigers main opponent left on the schedule is themselves, as well as their annual rivalry game with South Carolina to close the season.

2. Virginia Cavaliers 5-2 (LW: 4), Week 9 Result: 31-21 W vs UNC, Next: vs Pittsburgh 11/2 7:30pm ET

The success story of the conference so far is the Cavaliers, who went from a bottom-dweller to the Coastal division leader with 4 games left in the season. QB Bryce Perkins is catching fire at just the right time, throwing for 3 touchdowns and running for another against UNC.

3. Boston College Eagles 6-2 (LW: 5), Week 8 Result: 27-14 W vs Miami, Next: @ Virginia Tech 11/3 3:45pm ET

The Eagles played an inspired game against Miami on their Red Bandana night, recapturing the offensive firepower that made them an early ACC contender. AJ Dillon came back with a vengeance, rushing for 149 yards against one of the top run defenses in the country.

4. Syracuse Orange 6-2 (LW: 7), Week 9 Result: 51-41 W vs NC State, Next: @ Wake Forest 11/3 12:00pm ET

QB Eric Dungey threw for 411 yards and 3 touchdowns, and the Orange gave NC State their second straight loss. The win was also Syracuse’s 6th of the season, making them bowl-eligible for the first time in 5 years.

5. NC State Wolfpack 5-2 (LW: 2), Week 9 Result: 41-51 L @ Syracuse, Next: vs Florida State 11/3 3:30pm ET

The Wolfpack were riding high and undefeated two weeks ago, but have quickly fallen back down to earth after encountering Clemson and Syracuse. Florida State gives the Wolfpack an opportunity to turn things around quickly this week.

6. Virginia Tech Hokies 4-3 (LW: 3), Week 9 Result: 28-49 L vs Georgia Tech, Next: vs Boston College 11/3 3:45pm ET

The Hokies appeared to have an inside track for the ACC Championship Game despite their early season stumbles, but a third loss to Georgia Tech may have sunken their conference title hopes for good.

7. Miami Hurricanes 5-3 (LW: 6), Week 9 Result: 14-27 L @ Boston College, Next: vs Duke 11/3 7:00pm ET

The Canes have lost 2 in a row, scoring an average of 13.5 points per game in those games. For a team that was ranked 8th in the nation to start the season, that amount of production is cause for change.

8. Pittsburgh Panthers 4-4 (LW: 9), Week 9 Result: 54-45 W vs Duke, Next: @ Virginia 11/2 7:30pm ET

The Panthers exposed the Duke run defense with an offensive explosion, scoring 54 points while rushing for 484 yards. Pitt will be a tough out for UVA, VT and Miami going forward.

9. Duke Blue Devils 5-3 (LW: 8), Week 9 Result: 45-54 L @ Pittsburgh, Next: @ Miami 11/3 7:00pm ET

The Blue Devils failed to take advantage of 619 yards of total offense, as they could not slow down the Pittsburgh rushing attack. This week will be a battle of strength versus strength, as the talented Duke offense will have to deal with the Canes stingy defense.

10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 4-4 (LW: 11), Week 9 Result: 49-28 W @ Virginia Tech, Next: @ UNC 11/3 12:15pm ET

When the triple option is working, it can topple just about anyone. VIrginia Tech was its latest victim, as the Yellow Jackets dropped 465 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns on the Hokies. Miami and Virginia need to beware.

11. Florida State Seminoles 4-4 (LW: 10), Week 9 Result: 10-59 L vs Clemson Next: @ NC State 11/3 3:30pm ET

Just two years ago, Florida State and Clemson were top-10 programs vying for spots in the College Football Playoff. This past Saturday, Clemson defeated the Noles 59-10. How times have changed.

12. Wake Forest Demon Deacons 4-4 (LW: 12), Week 9 Result: 56-35 W @ Louisville, Next: vs Syracuse 11/3 12:00pm ET

RB Matt Colburn’s career day ensured the Demon Deacons would survive the challenge by Louisville, as he rushed for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns. Can he carry that momentum against a strong Syracuse squad?

13. Louisville Cardinals 2-6 (LW: 13), Week 9 Result: 35-56 L vs Wake Forest, Next: @ Clemson 11/3 12:00pm ET

The Cardinals must win out to get to a bowl game. Standing in their way is the reigning ACC champs. Not looking good.

14. North Carolina Tar Heels 1-6 (LW: 14), Week 9 Result: 21-31 L @ Virginia, Next: vs Georgia Tech 11/3 12:15pm ET

A valiant fight against a hot Virginia team yielded another loss, and the Tar Heels get to host Georgia Tech, who’s offense is firing on all cylinders right now.
