After a 3-5 clunker, Craig Smith looks to bounce back in Week Six.

(FULL DISCLAIMER. This article is simply for fun. Chide me, praise me, do whatever. Just know that I’m here to give my two cents and offer a perspective on a game or games that maybe you’re on the fence about. Giving you something to consider that may help you go one way or another. Not forcing you to fork over your money to a sports book. But, of course, if you win, break me off 5%. All lines courtesy of

Last week: 3-5 single games; 0-1 parlays; 0-1 teasers

Overall single games: 26-19

Lockity Lock Hits: 4-1

Overall parlays: 1-4

Overall teasers: 2-3

Well, that sucked. Two teams that are defying their detractors every week – Notre Dame and Kentucky – helped push me to a 3-5 record for the week, as did the Canes (for the record, I’ll take them proving me wrong every single time). Still, I sit 7 games north of .500 in single game picks for the year. On with this week’s picks…

Lockity Lock of the Week:

Oklahoma at Texas; THE OVER (60.5)

That’s it??? Oklahoma doesn’t know how to not score, and their defense is bad enough to let Texas stay in a shootout before prevailing late. They should easily surpass that number.

Other lines I like:

NOTRE DAME (-6.5) at Virginia Tech

Hokies are about to go from bouncing back to getting bounced. Irish are rejuvenated and rolling with Ian Book under center.

Arizona State at COLORADO (-2)

Buffs might be the best team in the PAC-12 South this year.

FLORIDA STATE (+13.5) at Miami

Miami wins. Miami wins by double digits. FSU barely covers. Canes 31-20.

CAL (-2) at Arizona

Cal caught the Ducks at a bad time, but they’re not as bad as they looked last Saturday. A trip to Tucson to face Arizona is a perfect elixir for a bounce back.

Nebraska at WISCONSIN (-17.5)

I trust in (anyone playing) Scott Frost right about now.

ALABAMA (-35) at Arkansas

It’s going to be ugly, this we all know with 100% certainly. 35+ points ugly? Well, as Nick Saban is the closest thing to a merciless Belichick that there is in college football, and given that Jalen Hurts is a more than capable backup, I think Bama can put it on them for a full 60 minutes and cover that number.

IOWA (-7) at Minnesota

Did you see what Maryland did at Minnesota two weeks ago? 42-13? Yeeeeeeish, Goooophers. Iowa is playing well this year, so that’s a bad combination.

Teaser of the Week (6-point shift)

WISCONSIN (-11.5) and FLORIDA STATE (+19.5)

Again, Canes win, y’all. Don’t kill me, please. And just an extra cushion for Wisconsin’s bludgeoning of Nebraska.

Parlay of the week

NOTRE DAME (-6.5) at Virginia Tech; FLORIDA STATE (+13.5) at Miami; Oklahoma at Texas, THE OVER (60.5)

May the Hurricanes wad up this parlay pick and stuff it in that silly little purse on the FSU sideline.

So, let’s hear it, Canes fam. Tell me why I’m wrong, and what YOU think is going to happen.
