Miami Still Poll-Irrelevant Following Fourth Straight Loss

The Hurricanes garnered zero votes in both polls this week

NCAA Football: Miami at Georgia Tech Adam Hagy-USA TODAY Sports

Another game, another disaster and ultimately, another loss. The Miami Hurricanes dropped their fourth straight game to now rest at .500 on the season. That’s right, the preseason no. 7 team in the nation is 5-5 and drowning in poor execution and coaching. After losing a very winnable game to Georgia Tech, 27-21, Miami finds itself only ahead of UNC in the Coastal standings.

Miami received zero votes last week and with another ugly defeat suffered this week, there was no reason why that should change. Some of the teams receiving more votes than the Canes this week? UAB (rebooting their football program following disbanding from 2015-16 and being ranked for the first time since 2004), Duke, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Troy. Yes, Miami is worse than all these teams.

It is a very real possibility that the Canes will not even be bowl eligible this season. The Hurricanes finish the season @ Virginia Tech and vs Pittsburgh. VT should be heavily favored next week in Blacksburg and Pittsburgh is currently the best team in the Coastal. This team will obviously not be ranked this season and probably won’t receive anymore votes going forward. Miami’s 2018 is a complete trainwreck and it’s absence in the polls is a good way of knowing it, if you needed any other reminder besides the on-field product.
