Minutes before kickoff, the University of Miami announced that junior LB Michael Pinckney would miss today’s game at Virginia Tech for a violation of team rules.

The release from Miami Athletics on the topic reads as follows:

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Miami football program announced Saturday that junior linebacker Michael Pinckney will miss today’s game against Virginia Tech due to a violation of team rules.

So, just like that one of Miami’s best defensive players will not be playing in a key game today at VT.

A junior from Jacksonville, Pinckney is 3rd on the team in tackles with 61, and has been a stalwart on Miami’s defense for the past 3 years. LB Zach McCloud, Backup LB Mike Smith and others will look to fill the void left by Pinckney’s absence today.
