What a week. Manny Diaz has moved on to be the head coach of the Temple Owls. Of course, once a Cane, always a Cane and we here at SOTU wish him the best going forward. But with that unfortunate piece of news confirmed, there’s a lot of moving and shaking going on at the football program. We give you all that and a little more with this Saturday’s news and notes.

Big moves for the Canes’ football staff. Manny Diaz out, Banda and Patke taking huge leaps forward to be Co-DCs. Jess Simpson is now the associate head coach. Still a lot to be figured out, like who will call defensive plays and if Miami will get a new offensive playcaller, but it’s starting to take shape.
Miami Hurricanes All-American DT Gerald Willis III to skip Pinstripe Bowl. A tough choice, I’m sure, but the right move, IMO. #Canes #TheU https://t.co/tIUX34eMef pic.twitter.com/Cy2P3yBQPx

Gerald Willis III will not be playing in the Pinstripe Bowl. He can’t be faulted though; Willis isn’t 100% healthy and is looking to secure a top 50 selection, if not higher, in the NFL draft. He doesn’t need a bowl game to prove he can ball.

Breaking down the Wisconsin’s Badgers disappointing 2018 season and how two teams who met in a New Years 6 bowl could fall so far one year later.
Jhavonte Dean has surpassed expectations this season after tying the team lead in INTs. Can he continue his solid play in the Pinstripe Bowl? https://t.co/cbkC4J5719 pic.twitter.com/egXkCN5DiW

Jhavonte Dean had a pretty solid 2018 campaign. Can he keep that up against a run-heavy Wisconsin squad?
