On Sunday night, Miami (FL) Southridge 4-star DB Tyrique Stevenson named his top 2. And, neither team in there should be a surprise: the Miami Hurricanes and the Georgia Bulldogs.
With my recruitment coming to an end I would like to thank all coaches and programs for taking the time to recruit me and offer me but I will be choosing out of The University of Miami & The university of Georgia Dec 19 pic.twitter.com/nDeDZDz1T8

Stevenson had previously named the Canes and Bulldogs as his top 2 teams, so maintaining that into his announcement makes sense. Stevenson’s last 2 visits were to Athens and Coral Gables, so things are holding true to form so far.
Both Miami and Georgia have been pushing for Stevenson throughout this cycle. Each team has built a strong connection to the star DB, and their rosters would be better for having Stevenson on them.
For Miami, new Co-DC Ephraim Banda has been the key to the Canes’ recruitment of Stevenson. Keeping him on staff, and with a promotion to boot, will be among the reasons that Stevenson picks Miami, if indeed he does.
For years, Miami has lost out on players such as Stevenson — top tier DBs like Trayvon Mullen, Patrick Surtain II, and Tyson Campbell (and others) have all elected to go out of state for college. For Miami to get back to the heights they so greatly desire, they have to start winning these recruiting battles against the best teams in the country for the best players from South Florida. With Miami’s glaring need for DBs in this class, thanks in large part to missing on the players previously listed (and more), getting Stevenson is crucial for the Canes.
We’ll all find out Tyrique Stevenson’s decision on December 19th. We just hope he wants to #MakeTheCribGreat.
