Miami Hurricanes Recruiting: DE/DT Jamarcus Chatman elects to sign with FSU instead of Miami

Ugh.

Rome (GA) DE/DT Jamarcus Chatman will spend the next 4 years playing against the Canes.

The Miami Hurricanes lost out at a critical area of need, missing on Rome (GA) 3-star DE/DT Jamarcus Chatman, who committed to FSU over Miami, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech today.

In pledging to the Noles, Chatman ended a very up-and-down recruitment filled with multiple commitments and various leaders. Miami was actually considered by Chatman as his “dream school” and he grew up wanting to rep “The U”. Back in April, he was a Miami-lean and tried to commit to UM before the staff backed off on him to pursue other targets. Chatman then committed to LSU with 2 other teammates, but flipped to Tennessee soon after. When the UT coaching staff was let go in November, Chatman re-opened his recruitment yet again.

After seeing RJ McIntosh and Kendrick Norton go pro, Miami’s staff got back in touch with Chatman, who immediately declared Miami his leader. But the Canes had to wait out official visits to FSU, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech for the impressionable Chatman, who yo-yo’ed back-and-forth to claiming North Carolina his leader after his UNC visit and then stating all four schools were even just a few days later.

However, Miami was able to get the last shot at him this past weekend, getting Chatman to campus in Coral Gables. It seems the visit was not enough, though, and Chatman went ahead and signed with Willie Taggart and the Noles.

As Chatman was the last known target the Canes were waiting on, this officially concludes Miami’s national signing day. Without Chatman, the depth on the D-Line Miami needed will have to wait another year, but thankfully, UM has the best D-Line coach in America in coach Kool to develop the players they do have on the roster and get them ready to play on Saturday’s.

All the best to Jamarcus Chatman in his future endeavors.
