I know you were waiting on this post, and I’m here to come through for the people! The college basketball season is approaching tournament time! With the annual NCAA Basketball tournament to determine a National Champion coming up very soon soon, we’ve decided to bring back something that was very successful — AND FUN — for another year.

That’s right, guys. I’m here to announce the 2018 State of the U College Basketball Bracket Challenge!

After 2 consecutive wins, the question is whether JT (canegrad05 on twitter) will make it a 3-peat, or if another savvy hoops fan from the Canes fam will take the throne.

How does this work? Simple, but we’ll get to that in a second. But I know your main question: Are there prizes?!?!?!? OF COURSE THERE ARE!!!! In addition to the intangible bragging rights from winning a contest of this sort, the prizes for this year’s SOTU Bracket Contest are:

  • GRAND PRIZE: $100 digital gift card to AllCanes
  • 1st prize: Canes hat from Lids.com (style to be determined)

OFFICIAL RULES OF ENTRY

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The State of the U College Basketball Brackets starts on Monday, March 12, 2018 and ends on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Open only to eligible legal residents of the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec), 18 years or older. Entry Information

The full official rules are above. Here’s what you need to know to sign-up and be eligible to win. You must:

  1. Have an active SOTU account
  2. Be a registered member of the Yahoo! Tournament Pick’em (“Tournament Site”)
  3. Be a registered member of the league titled “StateOfTheU.com” (“League”)
  4. Create and submit an entry in the “League” on the “Tournament Site”
  5. MUST MAKE YOUR EMAIL PUBLIC/VIEWABLE ON YOUR ENTRY/PROFILE

So you know, I will be using your email address on your entry to prove your SOTU member status and also to contact winners. If your email is not public/viewable, then your entry is ineligible for any prize. Winning entries have been disqualified in BOTH of the last 2 years due to this clause, so please pay attention to this point.
