Miami Hurricanes Recruiting Radar: Diamante Howard De-Commits from the U

Talented Prospect Looks to be Moving on

NCAA Football: ACC Championship-Clemson vs Miami Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Miami is building an elite 2019 recruiting class, with many top talents already in the boat. Progress isn’t always linear, however, and a step back could end up being a step forward down the line.

Miami (FL) Southridge LB/S Diamante Howard, a consensus three star prospect, has opened up his recruitment. Howard had been committed to the U 2019 class for quite some time. For those of you who don’t know, Howard is a cousin to the late Sean Taylor.

The rumor is that Miami cooled off on Howard as he changed positions — he’s only 185ish pounds so the move was from LB to S — heading into his senior year at Southridge. He is now considering Florida, UCF, Georgia, and Tennessee.

We wish Diamante the best going forward.

While this decommitment drops Miami down to only have 11 commits in the 2019 class, there are other prospects with better physical development and demonstrable skill that Miami can replace Howard with in this class.
