Miami Hurricanes Recruiting Radar: 2020 WR Jermaine Burton decommits

Another high profile drop from the 2020 recruiting class.

On Sunday afternoon, Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy 4-star WR Jermaine Burton decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes.

Originally hailing from Atlanta, GA, Burton was one of the most talented players in Miami’s elite 2020 recruiting class. That group has seen tons of attrition in recent weeks, however, with 5-star WR Leonard Manuel and 4-star ATH Avantae Williams also having decommitted from Miami.

Like Manuel and Williams, Burton is an elite talent who will be highly sought after by teams all over the country. There’s been chatter that Burton’s homestate school, Georgia, has been making a push in recent weeks. I’m not saying that those reports are a direct cause of this decommitment, but I’m not saying they’re not, either.

Miami is in a good place with the 2019 recruiting class, sitting 4th nationally after flipping Keontra Smith from Kentucky on Sunday Morning. But, the downward trend in the 2020 class is tangible and cannot be ignored. I don’t know what has to change, but SOMETHING has to change, and fast.

While I wish Jermaine Burton the best in his future endeavors, my main concern is identifying and addressing what seem to be pretty substantial issues from Miami’s end in terms of 2020 recruiting.

More on Miami Hurricanes recruiting in the coming days.
