Tyler Gauthier came to Miami as a three-star offensive lineman from Venice High School in Venice, FL (Gauthier’s recruiting tape). Gauthier is a 6’5 and 305 pound lineman that has started 17 games for the ‘Canes over the past two seasons. In 2017, Gauthier made 13 consecutive starts and finished the season as an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection. Gauthier played in four games in 2015 so he did not redshirt as a freshman, thus he is a senior for the 2018 season.
With the Miami offensive line in a constant state of flux, Gauthier at center is the only returning starter in their same position (assuming Navaughn Donladson does move to right tackle) from 2017 and is the captain of the line. Coach Stacy Searles will need the consistency Gauthier can provide in order to try and keep Malik Rosier upright and the running game moving. Miami struggled to run against top flight talent like Clemson and Wisconsin and will have to overcome the constant shuffling on the line. But the one consistent piece will be Tyler Gauthier at center.
