New Miami commit Marcus Fleming

The Miami Hurricanes continued to build on their #1 ranked 2020 recruiting class today when Miami (FL) Southridge WR Marcus Fleming committed to The U after an unofficial visit to Coral Gables this afternoon.

A 5’11” 180lb player, Fleming starred at Miami Senior High prior to transferring to Southridge. He has all the tools to be a top level receiver, and with years of production at the HS level to his credit, he’s already tapping into that potential and turning into production on the field.

Fleming, like so many other past and present Canes commits, plays for the elite South Florida Express 7v7 team. He helped that team win the adidas 7v7 National Championship, so that’s pretty decent. As he moves from Miami High to Southridge, Fleming will take over the #3 jersey formerly worn by Canes freshman WR Mark Pope. No pressure.

As far as performance goes, Fleming had 22 catches for 692 yards and 8 TDs as a sophomore in 2017. Southridge isn’t known for putting up huge numbers in the passing game, so he might not reach those totals again, but averaging 31.5 yards per catch shows that Fleming is an explosive playmaker who will challenge defenses on a weekly basis at the HSFB level and beyond.

Fleming committed to Miami over a list of 28 scholarship offers, which is sure to grow as he continues to progress. He chose Miami over offers from Florida, Georgia, Louisville, Nebraska, and more.

Fleming is the 8th commit in Miami’s 2020 recruiting class. He joins Hialeah (FL) Champagnat Catholic WR Marc Britt at this position in this class. For a better look at Fleming’s explosive playmaking ability, check out the HUDL highlights below.
