Robert Burns is a talented Redshirt Freshmen out of Gulliver Prep. The Miami-Dade County native earned 4 stars out of high school by ESPN.
Burns is listed at 5-11, 215 and is a powerful back with good speed and can do some damage if given the opportunity in space. For a back his size he possesses the ability to change direction quickly and displays really good foot work. What really helps his play making abilities is his instinct running the ball. He’s very good at finding that first hole and getting to it without any extra “dancing”. He can make that first cut quickly and has the speed to burst through it.
Unfortunately he’ll likely be reduced to a 4th string role this season. Not due to his lack of talent, but to the credit of Miami’s running back depth. He’ll be behind Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas, and incoming freshmen and 5 star recruit Lorenzo Lingard. When given the opportunity, fully expect to be surprised by Burns and his talent.
