On Sunday evening, Sports Illustrated released their Preseason All-American teams. Miami Hurricanes senior S Jaquan Johnson was named 1st team All-American in the list by the publication.

Here’s what SI had to say about Johnson in their blurb on the All-American Safety:
The key source of havoc for Miami’s opportunistic defense, Johnson tied for the team lead with four picks, along with four pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two recoveries.
Also on the list was junior LB Shaquille Quarterman, who was named a 2nd team Preseason All-American.
This is the second publication that has given these same accolades to Johnson and Quarterman. Earlier this summer, CBS Sports listed Johnson as a 1st team All-American, and Quarterman as 2nd team, same as SI has done today.
With a wealth of experience and high level performance, Johnson and Quarterman will be the backbones of Miami’s defense in 2018.
The Canes begin their season in Arlington, TX against the LSU Tigers on September 2nd.
