Canes open as huge betting favorites vs FIU

No surprise. This should be a blowout

NCAA Football: Miami at Toledo Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Miami Hurricanes host the other FBS football team in the City of Miami — the FIU Panthers — on Saturday afternoon. The 21st ranked Canes should easily handle an FIU team that simply isn’t that good.

Vegas agrees with that sentiment. The Canes opened as a 28 point favorite against FIU. That number has been bet down to 27.5 in some places, but either way, we’re talking about a 4 touchdown favorite returning home for their last non-conference game of the season.

Miami is fresh off a 49-24 win at Toledo, moving the team to 2-1 on the season. For their part, FIU is coming off a 63-28 win over lowly UMass, and are themselves 2-1 on the year.

There is no Over/Under number available at this time, but expect it to be pretty high with the line already at 28 (or 27.5, depending on where you look).

Miami was only a 10 point favorite on the road at Toledo yesterday, but covered that spread 2.5 times. There was no line in the game against Savannah State 2 weeks ago, but Miami won that game 77-0, so suffice it to say that even if there had been a line of 60 or more, they would have covered that as well.

Coming off 2 weeks with 126 points (63ppg AVERAGE), Miami’s offense should be able to pick their score this weekend against FIU. I’m not saying Miami will score 63 this week, but there should be plenty of points for the Canes against FIU come Saturday afternoon.
