Miami Hurricanes Recruiting Radar: Weekly Update, September 19th Edition

Your weekly update on all things ‘Canes recruiting.

NCAA Football: Miami at Toledo Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Hurricanes continued their return to form both on the field and on the recruiting trail last week, getting a blowout win over Toledo and a new commitment on Friday. The new commitment is from DT Jason Blissett, one of the top prep players in New York. He is a big strong defensive tackle with a lot of potential, and one that helps the ‘Canes add strength at a position of need.

For more on the commitment take a look here:

Additionally, it seems like Tyrique Stevenson has narrowed down his decision to either Georgia or Miami, or at least those two programs are his clear leaders. The Hurricanes still have a lot of work left to do here, but getting a player like Stevenson to commit to Miami would be a huge boost for this class.

Also on the radar this week was a reminder of just how important it is for Miami to get at least one TE in this year’s recruiting class. After the season-ending injury to Brian Polendey the Hurricanes are down to just two scholarship tight ends on the roster.

Miami is one of the most reliable producers of NFL talent at tight end, so it’s time to flex that muscle and get more talent and depth at that position on the roster. The fact that the situation at this position has become this concerning makes it one of, if not the, top priority of this recruiting class. The Hurricanes offense simply does not function without a top-tier tight end.

That’s it for this week. Make sure to keep checking back in for any recruiting news throughout the week.
