Miami Basketball announced this afternoon that transfer guard Miles Wilson has been dismissed from the program. Here’s the release:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball head coach Jim Larrañaga announced Friday that guard Miles Wilson will no longer be with the men’s basketball program for not meeting team expectations.
It’s not clear what “not meeting team expectations” means at this time, but what is clear is that the already thin Canes backcourt has just become thinner. Wilson had just sat out a season with hopes of making an impact as part of the backcourt rotation this year, but the coaching staff will now have to hope transfer guards Anthony Mack and Zach Johnson are able to carry the load along with returning guards Chris Lykes and Dejan Vasiljevic. Retooling the backcourt has been a point of emphasis after the departures of Lonnie Walker IV and Bruce Brown Jr to the NBA Draft, as well as Jaquan Newton to graduation.
More as it becomes available.
