Through just 5 games, Mike Harley has already surpassed his numbers from last season; and it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down any time soon.

With the superstar level that Jeff Thomas has achieved, it was a curious case as to who Miami’s 2nd/3rd option at receiver would be. Unfortunately, Ahmmon Richards is still out, but the talent within the receiving corp is plentiful enough to not feel Richards’ absence as much as last season.

Lawrence Cager has constantly found success near the end zone, with Darrell Langham being another option comparable in size. Along with Freshmen Brian Hightower, Dee Wiggins, and Marquez Ezzard receiving reps, it’s clear that the ‘Canes are loaded at the position group.

However, Mike Harley has emerged ever since Perry has seen action at starting quarterback. He’s becoming a solid slot option, a place in which the ever-reliable Braxton Berrios used to fill.

In the last 2 contests, Harley has reached 70 yards of receiving; a number he didn’t come close to in 2017, or in the first 3 games of this season.

What this displays, is the plethora of skill that the coaching staff has assembled through recruiting. Now, armed with the right gunslinger, there’s a much better chance of getting the ball delivered to them.

Despite the uncertainty that arose surrounding the quarterback position this off season, it seems that the offense is finally set. Now, the focus can move to dispersing the ball to the playmakers, and not worrying if the quarterback can make the throw or not.
