Miami Hurricanes News And Notes : Richards and Jackson Out, Home Opener Saturday vs SSU

Hard Rock welcomes back the Canes for their first home game of the 2018 season.

Good morning Canes fans! Your Miami Hurricanes football team will be conducting a walkthrough today as they cap off a short week preparing to host Savannah State in the first home game of the season. The game is set to start at 6PM EDT. You can catch the game on the ACC Network Extra or the Watch ESPN app.

WR Ahmmon Richards and DE Demetrius Jackson Out VS Savannah State

On Thursday afternoon news broke that a pair of Hurricanes are set to miss the home opener due to injury. Richards is dealing with a knee injury that kept him off the field for a majority of the second half. Similar to Richards, senior defensive end Demetrius Jackson is said to be dealing with a knee injury. There’s no timetable for either player to return.

The Captains for Savannah State

As voted by the coaches this week, the players that will be wearing the ‘C’ on their uniform this week are WR Jeff Thomas and RB Travis Homer. Thomas went off against LSU less than a week ago, putting up 132 receiving yards on five receptions. The defense will be captained by Gerald Willis III, with the special team represented by LB Mike Smith.
