A late night report by Vince Sapienza of Fox 5 Las Vegas indicates that Ohio State Buckeyes QB Tate Martell will be transferring to the University of Miami.
BREAKING:— Vince Sapienza (@VinceSapienza) January 16, 2019
Per sources, Bishop Gorman grad, and Ohio St. backup QB Tate Martell will be transferring to the University of Miami
Official announcement coming tomorrow@BishopGormanHS @BishopGormanFB @CanesFootball
Miami Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz tweeted out this meme which clearly states that something noteworthy will be happening tomorrow (he tweeted it Tuesday night)
If true, Miami will have added a former 5-star recruit in Martell to join 2 former 4-star recruits in N’Kosi Perry and Jarren Williams in the QB room. Those 3, along with redshirt sophomore Cade Weldon and any other incoming QB (via recruiting class or transfer) would then all compete to start for Manny Diaz, OC Dan Enos and the Canes.
Martell is a dual threat QB who accounted for more than 10,000 yards in HS. His alma mater, Bishop Gorman, won 3 National Championships with Martell at the helm of a legendary 43-0 run with the Gaels. Martell was HS teammates with incoming transfer Bubba Bolden and starting TE Brevin Jordan at Bishop Gorman, so there are familiar faces in Coral Gables, should Martell choose to join them.
I’ll leave this here, but Miami might be adding a very talented player to the QB room in the very near future.
Stay Tuned to The New Miami. #TNM
