Bandy was a key player in Miami’s defense holding Virginia out of the endzone in a key 17-9 ACC Coastal victory on Friday Night. Here’s a bit more on his award-winning performance from Miami Athletics:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior cornerback Trajan Bandy was named ACC Defensive Back of the Week after a standout performance in a win over Virginia, the conference office announced Monday.
Bandy was everywhere in Friday night’s 17-9 victory over the #19/#20 Cavaliers at Hard Rock Stadium.
The Miami native, who made his sixth straight start this season and 22nd of his career, was third on the Hurricanes with six tackles and wore the turnover chain for the first time this season with a fumble recovery against the Cavaliers.
Bandy added a solo sack – his third of the season – and finished with a season-high six tackles in the win. He is the second Hurricane to be honored by the league this season; QB Jarren Williams was named ACC Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks (Sept. 23, Sept. 30).
Bandy and the Canes continue their midseason homestand with a game against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at noon on Saturday.
