On Monday afternoon, Miami Hurricanes TE Brevin Jordan was named a semifinalist for the Mackey Award.

Given annually to the best TE in the nation, the Mackey Award is the premier award for a TE at the college level. A sophomore from Las Vegas, NV, Jordan has quickly and repeatedly proven his elite level of talent and skill at the college level in just under 2 full seasons of play.

Here’s more on this nomination from Miami Athletics:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami sophomore Brevin Jordan was selected as one of eight semifinalists for the 2019 John Mackey Award honoring the nation’s top tight end, it was announced Monday.

An All-ACC second-team selection a season ago, Jordan has put together an impressive sophomore campaign, compiling a team-high 495 receiving yards with 35 catches and two touchdowns.

Jordan had a standout game earlier this year against Virginia Tech, totaling a career-high 136 yards on seven receptions – one short of his career high. Jordan had a career-long reception of 51 yards against the Hokies and scored his second touchdown on the year.

Jordan, who has made nine starts this season, is the only Mackey Award semifinalist from the ACC. The Las Vegas native has compiled 782 receiving yards on 67 receptions with six touchdowns in 21 career games at The U.

The eight semifinalists were determined by confidential balloting of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee. Given annually to the most outstanding collegiate tight end, the 2019 John Mackey Award recipient will be announced on Dec. 11, 2019 and presented live on Dec. 12, 2019 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show: 6 p.m. ET on ESPNU. Other key dates include the announcement of the 2019 Mackey Finalists on Nov. 25, 2019.
