Miami got a BIG boost to their 2020 recruiting class moments ago when Deerfield Beach (FL) 4-star RB Jaylan Knighton committed to the Canes.
The 5’9” 194lb Knighton was once committed to Florida State (ew), but decommitted from the Noles after Willie Taggart was fired as coach. Since then, Knighton has visited Florida (double ew) officially and Miami unofficially, and in the course of those visits, has decided that Miami is the place for him.
Knighton is a dynamic offensive weapon for Deerfield Beach, a State Championship contender in Florida’s largest HSFB classification, 8A. He’s the ground game for a dynamic Deerfield Offense that is stocked with FBS talent all over the place.
An Under Armour All-American, Knighton has been clocked in the high 4.4’s in the 40 yard dash. That’s rare air in terms of speed, and Knighton plays to that time on the field. He’s able to extend runs because he’ll simply outrun defenders, even ones with a proper pursuit angle. That’s what speed will do for you.
A 4-star recruit, Knighton is ranked the #18 player in Florida, the #10 RB nationally, and the #101 player overall in the 2020 recruiting class. He’s the 2nd RB in Miami’s 2020 recruiting class, joining Miami (FL) Belen Jesuit 4-star Donald Chaney Jr. at that position in this class for the Canes. Knighton picked Miami over Florida State, Ohio State, Florida, and Oklahoma from a robust offer list of 31 teams.
