4-star DE Romello Height spurns Miami, flips to Auburn on Signing Day

Told you there was fire behind all that smoke about him flipping.

In a move that started to become clearer in the past few days, Dublin (GA) 4-star DE Romello Height flipped his commitment to the Auburn Tigers, spurning the Miami Hurricanes on National Signing Day.

Height, who had been committed to Miami since July 1st, was recently courted by the Auburn Tigers. Mix that late cycle pursuit with Miami’s struggles to a 6-6 season and you had the perfect scenario for the SEC power to swoop in and steal one of the more talented players from Miami’s 2020 recruiting class.

While we have not yet gotten confirmation to the rumors that Height and his father took a secret Official Visit to Auburn last weekend, this flip seems to tell that story on its own merits.

With Height’s now finished defection, Miami’s 2020 recruiting class sits at 19 commitments, with 18 of them having signed NLIs today. The other, DT Willie Moise, will sign in February as he has work to do academically to become eligible in college.

Flips happen. Just seems like they happen with the players leaving Miami more than the reverse. But hey, that’s what 6-6 gets you, yanno?

Good luck and Godspeed, Romello.

More on Miami recruiting soon.
