New Miami verbal commitment Jalen Harrell will look to claim the ultimate prize in his final high school football game tonight.

The 2020 defensive back recruit will lead Hialeah Champagnat Catholic against Lakeland Victory Christian tonight in the Class 2A state championship game at Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee.

A 30-21 victory over Seffner Christian in 2A state semifinal game on November 29 earned the Lions their fourth straight trip to the state title game but this is Harrell’s first as he transferred in this season from Miami Central.

The trio of Hurricane verbal commitments from Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna will look to finish off their season by winning the Class 3A state championship on Friday night.

2020 defensive lineman Willie Moise, 2021 Thad Franklin and 2021 kicker Andres Borregales will lead the Lions against Florida High out of Tallahassee tonight at 7pm at Gene Cox Stadium in the Class 3A state championship game.

The Lions easily topped Clearwater Central Catholic 28-7 in a state semifinal on November 29 to qualify for the 3A state title game. The Fort Lauderdale-Sun Sentinel reported that Franklin rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns in the game while Borregales was 4-for-4 on extra points.

Moise is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

A win on Friday would give Chaminade-Madonna its third straight state championship.
