The disparity from the top of the conference to the bottom grows wider each week.

NCAA Basketball: Miami-Florida at Virginia Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

ACC Basketball Power Rankings: 2/5

1. Duke Blue Devils (LW: 1) 19-2 (7-1)

Last Week: W vs St Johns 91-61; Next Week: vs BC 2/6, @ UVA 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Scoring, Scoring Margin, Blocked Shots, and Turnover Margin - RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson are really good. The two freshman rank 1st and 2nd in the conference in points per game, Zion is in the top 5 in blocks and steals, and fellow freshman Tre Jones leads the ACC in assists per game. Looks like the young guys in Durham can beat you in multiple ways.

2. Virginia Cavaliers (LW: 2) 20-1 (8-1)

Last Week: W @ NC State 66-65, W vs Miami 56-46; Next Week: vs Duke 2/9, @ UNC 2/11

ACC Leader In...: Scoring Defense and Assist-to-Turnover Ratio - The nation’s best defense is holding opponents to 37% shooting and 24% from behind the arc. Double trouble for other teams because they don’t turn the ball over on the other end.

3. North Carolina Tar Heels (LW: 3) 17-4 (7-1)

Last Week: W @ GT 77-54, W @ Louisville 79-69; Next Week: vs NC State 2/5, vs Miami 2/9, vs UVA 2/11

ACC Leader In...: Rebounding - The Tar Heels hit the glass hard, and which allows them to continue reeling off wins despite giving up over 72 points per game.

4. Louisville Cardinals (LW: 4) 17-6 (8-2)

Last Week: W @ Wake 82-51, L vs UNC 69-79, W @ VT 72-64; Next Week: @ FSU 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Free Throws Made and Free Throw Percentage - Not only do the Cardinals get to the line more than anyone else, but they knock them down when they get there. Those free opportunities are definitely helping the quick turnaround in Louisville.

5. Syracuse Orange (LW: 6) 16-6 (7-2)

Last Week: W @ BC 77-71, W @ Pitt 65-56; Next Week: vs FSU 2/5, vs BC 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Opponents 3PT Attempts - The 2-3 zone is clogging up the lane as intended, forcing opponents to chuck it up from deep and at an unfavorable 30% clip.

6. Virginia Tech Hokies (LW: 5) 18-4 (7-3)

Last Week: W @ Miami 82-70, W @ NC State 47-24, L vs Louisville 64-72; Next Week: @ Clemson 2/9

ACC Leader In...: 3PT Made and 3PT percentage - The Hokies are lethal from deep, but living by the 3 is a risky proposition, as evidenced by their loss to Louisville Monday night.

7. Florida State Seminoles (LW: 8) 16-5 (4-4)

Last Week: W vs GT 59-49; Next Week: vs Syracuse 2/5, @ Louisville 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Nothing in particular - as evidenced by their ranking, FSU has been pretty middle of the road in every aspect this season. The Noles need to clear up their identity as a team to make a push for the postseason.

8. NC State Wolfpack (LW: 7) 16-6 (4-5)

Last Week: L vs Virginia 65-66, L vs VT 24-47; Next Week: @ UNC 2/5, @ Pitt 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Forced Turnovers and Field Goal Attempts - The Wolfpack are very active on the defensive end. providing them with plenty of scoring opportunities. They just need to take care of the ball when they have it.

9. Clemson Tigers (LW: 12) 13-8 (3-5)

Last Week: W vs Pitt 82-69, W vs Wake 64-37; Next Week: @ GT 2/6, vs VT 2/9

ACC Leader In...: giving up 3PT field goals - opponents are shooting 36% from deep against Clemson, and whether its luck or poor defense, watching other teams drain 3s all game can eat away at a team.

10. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (LW: 9) 11-11 (3-6)

Last Week: L vs UNC 77-54, L @ FSU 49-59; Next Week: vs Clemson 2/6, @ ND 2/10

ACC Leader In...: least points per game - The Yellow Jackets’ offense has struggled to put points on the board this season, averaging only 66.9 points per game.

11. Pittsburgh Panthers (LW: 10) 12-10 (2-7)

Last Week: L @ Clemson 69-82, L vs Syracuse 56-65; Next Week: @ Wake 2/5, vs NC State 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Nothing in particular - The Panthers are entrenched in the bottom third of the conference after not doing anything noticeably well.

12. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (LW: 13) 12-10 (2-7)

Last Week: W @ BC 79-73; Next Week: @ Miami 2/6, vs GT 2/10

ACC Leader In...: Opposing field goal attempts and opposing rebounds - Despite being one of the better rebounding teams in the conference, led by John Mooney’s 10.9 per game, the Fighting Irish also give up plenty of rebounds, which in turn results in more shot attempts for their opponents. Or do the high number of shot attempts by their opponents allow ND to collect lots of rebounds? Either way the Irish sit near the bottom of the conference at 2-7.

13. Boston College Eagles (LW: 11) 11-9 (2-6)

Last Week: L vs Syracuse 71-77, L vs ND 73-79; Next Week: @ Duke 2/5, @ Syracuse 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Opposing Free Throw Percentage and Lowest Average Attendance- these stats don’t shed much light on the Eagles’ performance so far this season, but they do relate to one another. BC fans may need to cheer a little louder while opponents are at the free throw line.

14. Miami Hurricanes (LW: 14) 9-12 (1-8)

Last Week: L vs VT 70-82, L vs UVA 46-56; Next Week: vs ND 2/6, @ UNC 2/9

ACC Leader In...: Least Rebounds - there probably isn’t a more accurate stat for showing the frontcourt depth problem the Canes have this season.

15. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (LW: 15) 8-13 (1-8)

Last Week: L vs Louisville 54-82, L @ Clemson 37-64; Next Week: vs Pitt 2/5

ACC Leader In...: Worst Scoring Margin and Least Points per Game - It’s been a rough season for the Demon Deacons, so the stat that literally decides the outcome of each game is a fitting one for Wake to find themselves ranked last.
