4-star ATH Mark-Antony Richards spurns Miami Hurricanes, signs with Auburn Tigers

The brother of a former star player is heading to the SEC, not Miami

The Miami Hurricanes can add another miss to the list in the 2019 recruiting class today as Wellington (FL) 4-star ATH Mark-Antony Richards has signed with the Auburn Tigers.

This is yet another loss for Miami when recruiting a local player. Not only that, Richards is the younger brother of former Miami star receiver Ahmmon Richards, so this is another loss of a talented family member of a Cane. Miami previously saw RJ McIntosh’s younger brother 4-star RB Kenny McIntosh sign with Georgia over Miami during the Early Signing Period.

The younger Richards is a multi-talented athlete who could star on offense or defense, and did both well in HS, but he wants to play RB in college, and it is at that position that teams all over the country have recruited him. That’s what he’s slated to play at Auburn, too.

While we wish Mark-Antony Richards the best in his future endeavors, it’s hard to keep watching elite local talent head elsewhere. Hopefully Manny Diaz and The New Miami can change this trend in the future.
