Flipping from Alabama to Miami on National Signing Day — Williams was swayed by a late-push from the ‘Canes.
While most reports included Miami as a likely landing spot for Williams, LSU was the favorite according to individuals close to him. Regardless, flipping an Alabama recruit is never a bad thing, and Miami has fortified their secondary in doing so.
Williams recorded 52 solo tackles and 8 interceptions in his Senior season at Daphne High School. He also returned 4 kickoffs for touchdowns, and caught 22 passes for 340 yards — making him a versatile defensive back. His skillset was well-known amongst scouts — ranking as the 7th-best recruit in Alabama and earning a spot in the Under Armour All-America Game.
“I actually made the decision Tuesday morning,” Williams stated. “When I got back from my last visit, I wrote down my goals. I wrote down what each college I visited had to offer and what I liked the most. That is how I made my decision.”

With Jaquan Johnson and Sheldrick Redwine graduating, Miami needed to reload their secondary. Mike Rumph and company accomplished that, also adding cornerback Keontra Smith and safety Te’Cory Couch — demonstrating Miami’s newfound efficiency in recruiting.
