Today, May 20th, we as Hurricanes fans would like to send the happiest of birthday wishes to one of most beloved to ever put on a Miami jersey, Ahmmon Richards.
To the moment that 82 committed to UM, to his record breaking freshman season, through medical complications that ended his football career and even to today, Richards remains a huge part of Miami football.
So on his special day, I decided to countdown five of my favorite plays from 82’s career as a Hurricane.
5. 77-yard touchdown against Virginia
82 was just a different kind of animal as a freshman in 2016. Breaking Michael Irvin’s school record for receiving yards a freshman, Richards’ long touchdown against Virginia that year helped Miami secure a win in Charlottesville.
4. Hurdling over a Notre Dame defender
Richards was one of the most talented and physically gifted receivers Miami had seen in a very long time, and no play represents that better when he full on jumped over Julian Love on Notre Dame in 2016.

3. One handed catch against Pitt
Perhaps his most impressive catch throughout his career, against Pitt his freshman season in 2016, 82 snagged one of the best catches in Miami history. Hauling in a nine-yard touchdown pass from Brad Kaaya, this play was just another highlight from Richards’ record-breaking freshman campaign.

2. His entire game against Duke in 2017
This was such a dominating performance by 82, that I couldn't just pick one of the plays, I had to include the entire game. It reminded me of when Randy Moss torched the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day in 1998. In a 31-6 victory of Duke, 82 finished with three catches for 106 yards and a touchdown.

- Destroying A.J. Westbrook
How could any other play top this? It wasn’t even a moment where 82 touched the ball, scored a touchdown, nothing like that. Actually, it was right after Richards hauled in a crucial 3rd-and-20 for a first down against FSU in 2017. The very next down, Malik Rosier kept it himself and picked up a few more yards thanks to 82, who absolutely decleated A.J. Westbrook on the Noles.

So there you have it, and if you have any other favorite plays from 82’s career, drop them in the comments! Happy Birthday Ahmmon! Forever and always a Miami Hurricane.
