There's much debate lately surrounding the different scheduling philosophies of USF and UCF. USF has agreed to "2-for-1" contracts (i.e. 2 away + 1 home game) last year with Louisville, then more recently with Miami and Alabama. By contrast, UCF turned down a 2-for-1 with Florida, instead pushing for a 1-for-1 which never happened. At issue is what's the best way to develop a reputation as a big-time program. So let's step back and look at a time when two other Florida schools were trying to break into the big-time. The years were 1976 through 1991...

The Hurricanes agreed to play 10 different teams on the road without a single home game. Included in those series was a 2-for-none with current ACC Coastal division conference mate Georgia Tech!
BOTTOM LINE: This may sound foreign to some people today, but "you have to pay your dues" to climb the ladder to the big-time! FSU did it, and so did Miami.
