Welcome to the U, Michael Redding III

A big recruiting win for Miami as the Canes get a 4-star WR who was thought to favor a rival team to commit

In a bit of a surprise move just minutes ago, Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy 4-star WR Michael Redding III committed to the Miami Hurricanes.

A strong and talented 6’1” 195lbs, Redding III has the size and ability that teams all over the country covet. Redding III tested impressively at this year’s The Opening Orlando regional, running 4.56 in the 40, 4.44 in the short shuttle, and jumping 41.4” in the vertical. That will play anywhere.

For a long time in his recruitment, the Florida State Seminoles were the favorites by a large margin. But, when Manny Diaz was hired back to The U as head coach, the Canes turned up the heat in recruiting Redding III, and that paid off with today’s commitment.

By getting Redding III, Miami adds a top-tier, blue chip recruit to the 2020 recruiting class. At current, Redding III is the #128 overall player, #17 in the State of Florida, and #28 WR in the country. I don’t care who you are, that’s damn good, and Miami has to feel ecstatic to be adding a player of this caliber.

As noted above, Redding III committed to Miami over previous-favorite Florida State, as well as offers from Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina from a robust list of 26 scholarship offers.

Redding III is the 3rd WR in Miami’s 2020 recruiting class. He joins 4-star Marcus Fleming and 3-star ATH Xavier Restrepo at this position in this class. Redding III is the 19th overall commitment for Miami in this class.
