Manny Diaz’s Canes got another bit of good recruiting news earlier today when Dublin (GA) 3-star OLB Romello Height committed to The U.

A tall and long 6’5” 218lb, Height plays OLB in HS but has been recruited to Miami as a defensive end. He fits the physical profile of recent Miami players such as Jonathan Garvin, Gregory Rousseau, and 2019 signee Cam Williams, and will be a solid addition to the DE group moving forward.
The comparison to Rousseau doesn’t end at physical build; much the same as Rousseau did in his prep career, Height played both ways for Dublin, starring at WR on offense and OLB/DE on defense. A second team All-Region performer in 2018, Height finished the year with 53 tackles, six TFL’s and four sacks for a defense that led Dublin to a 12-2 record while allowing just 9.1 points per game. Additionally, Height is a standout basketball player for Dublin as well, further showcasing his athletic talents.
For his recruitment, Height is a relatively late addition to Miami’s board at DE. New DL coach Todd Stroud preferred him to a couple other options at DE, and quickly made Height a priority. After taking an official visit to Miami on June 14th weekend, the standout defender elected to move up his previously-scheduled commitment date and make today’s decision to play his collegiate ball at Miami.
Height committed to Miami over Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and South Carolina from a robust list of 28 scholarship offers. He is the 3rd DE in Miami’s 2020 recruiting class, joining 3-stars Elijah Roberts and Quinten Williams at this position in this class. It should be noted, however, that Roberts may grow into a DT in college as he’s already nearly 270lbs.
