On that team, the Miami Hurricanes were represented by 3 veteran players.
On offense, 2018 freshman All-American Tight End Brevin Jordan was the All-ACC pick at TE. Coming off a 32 catch, 287 yard, 4 TD freshman year, Jordan is one of the most dynamic TEs in America and looks to build on his already impressive resume on the field.
On defense, the All-ACC players are senior LBs Michael Pinckney and Shaquille Quarterman. A senior from Oakleaf HS, Quarterman has been one of the best players on Miami’s defense for the past 3 years. With nearly 250 tackles, 31.0 TFLs, 11 sacks, 8 PBUs, 3 Fumbles recovered, 1 fumble forces, an interception and a return TD, Quarterman has been filling stat sheets since his first game as a Hurricane.
One of his partners in crime at the LB position, Pinckney has also had a very productive career as a Hurricane. With 203 tackles, 29.5 TFLs, 9.5 sacks, 6 PBUs, 3 interceptions, and a fumble recovery, Pinckney is known for his instinctive and disruptive play at the second level of the Canes defense.
As noted in the above-embedded tweet, Clemson star QB Trevor Lawrence is the run-away pick as the ACC player of the year in 2019.
Having 3 players picked for the preseason All-ACC team is great, but for Miami to achieve the level of success to which they greatly aspire, many more players will have to step their game up, and play to the level of their talent in the 2019 season.
Congrats to Brevin, Mike, and Shaq. The path to earning those spots on the postseason All-ACC teams begins when Fall Camp opens on Friday evening.
