Only two times has Miami faced the Florida State Seminoles in the past 15 years where both teams have been ranked in the top-10. One was in 2013, and the other was the opening game of the 2004 season, with UM ranked #5 and the Noles #6.
It was a defensive struggle all night at the Orange Bowl in the sweltering September heat, and with just over four minutes to go, FSU was up 10-3.
Seminoles kicker Xavier Beitia, who had missed wide left two years prior to lose to Miami, lined up for a 34-yard field goal in search of redemption. A make, and Florida State would most likely secure their first win over Miami since 1999.
Thankfully for the Hurricanes, Devin Hester, who’s been no stranger to this list, came through and blocked the field goal. On the ensuing Hurricanes drive, they tied the game, and eventually won in overtime.
GO CANES!
