2002 proved to be one of the most memorable games in the history of the Miami-FSU rivalry series. Ranked #1 and defending champions, the Hurricanes welcomed in the #12 ranked Seminoles and Bobby Bowden, on a steamy October day in the Orange Bowl.
FSU held a 27-14 lead in the fourth quarter, until Ken Dorsey and the Miami offense went on the attack. UM cut it to 27-21 when Dorsey found Kevin Beard in the back of the end zone for a touchdown.
On Miami’s following offensive drive, Dorsey set up a screen to Willis McGahee who took it deep into FSU territory, setting up the next play.
Jason Geathers took the next hand-off 11-yards into the end zone for the touchdown, and the Orange Bowl erupted. Miami won the game 28-27.
