Starting things off, junior safety Derrick Smith announced his intent to leave Miami near midnight on Tuesday.

We wish Derrick the best of luck.

Moving on, Gaby and I were at media day. I talked to plenty of defensive players for the Canes, including DJ Ivey, Zach McCloud and Nesta Jade Silvera. Gaby spoke to Trevon Hill, Gregory Rousseau and others.

We also chatted it up guys on the offensive. Mark Pope, Jeff Thomas, Lorenzo Lingard and several others. Brevin Jordan also told the story of how he talked Jarren Williams out of transferring back in December.

Once the players left, the assistant coaches came through for questions. Taylor Stubblefield, Eric Hickson and Todd Stroud were among the coaches we talked to.

Following media day, the team went out and had a very physical and intense practice Tuesday afternoon.

Though he wasn’t at practice on Monday, quarterback Tate Martell was there Tuesday.

The 100 Greatest Plays countdown hit #10 as we remember one of the greats hit in Miami history, when Micheal Barrow nearly killed Tamarick Vanover in 1992.

College Gameday announced that they’ll be at the Miami-Florida game on August 24th.

Justin Dottavio wrote an article explaining the reasoning behind Manny Diaz announcing Jarren Williams the starting quarterback.

There was also two player profiles done. First by Kevin Fiedler, who took a look at cornerback Al Blades Jr.

Next was by Dylan Goldman who previewed defensive end Scott Patchan.

KappaCane ranked the roster for the tight ends, headlined by the two headed monster of Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory.
