Another day, another missed kick, and this was the first in long line of missed kicks for FSU. 1991, the Hurricanes were ranked second in the country, and the Florida State Seminoles were ranked first.

Down 16-10, Gino Torretta led Miami on a scoring drive, which ended with Larry Jones getting into the end zone, and the Canes took a 17-16 lead.

Casey Weldon then drove FSU into field goal range, and Gerry Thomas trotted out to attempt a game-winning 34-yard field goal.

Wide right. Miami wins, 17-16.
