Every Miami Quarterback First Start/Season Since Ken Dorsey

Jarren Williams is making his first start on Saturday, we look at how other UM quarterbacks have fared in their first start and first season.

With Jarren Williams making his career start this Saturday against the Florida Gators, we take a look back at every Miami’s QB first start since the legendary Ken Dorsey left following the 2002 season. We also take a look at how their season went as the starter.

Brock Berlin: First start-2003 season

First start: vs Louisiana Tech. 14-28 passing, 203 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Miami wins, 48-9.

Season stats: 211-352, 2,419 yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Miami’s record was 11-2, won the Orange Bowl.

Kyle Wright: First start-2005 season

First start: vs FSU. 16-28 passing, 232 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Miami lost 10-7.

Season stats: 180-307 passing, 2,403 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Miami’s record was 9-3.

Kirby Freeman: First start-2006 season (10th game)

First start: 14-27 passing, 140 yards, one touchdown and interception. Miami lost 14-13.

Season stats (4 starts): 59-108 passing, 872 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions. Miami finished 7-6, 2-2 record with Freeman starting.

Robert Marve: First start-2008 season

First start: 10-18 passing, 69 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Miami loses 26-3 to Florida.

Season stats: 116-213 passing, 1,293 yards, nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Miami finishes 7-6.

Jacory Harris: First start-2008 season

First start: 16-26 passing, 190 yards and one touchdown. Miami beats Charleston Southern 52-7.

Season stats (2009 season 1st year as full time starter): 242-406 passing, 59.6 completion percentage, 3,352 yards, 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Miami finished 9-4.

Stephen Morris: First start-2010 season

First start: 18-30 passing, 286 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Miami beats Maryland 26-20.

Season stats (2012 year as full time starter): 245-421 passing, 3,345 yards with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Miami finished 7-5.

Brad Kaaya: First start-2014 season

First start: 17-29 passing, 174 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Miami lost to Louisville 31-13.

Season stats: 221-338 passing, 3,198 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Miami finished 6-7.

Malik Rosier:First start-2015 season

First start: 20-29 passing, 272 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Miami beats Duke 30-27.

Season stats (2017 season): 224-415 passing, 3,120 yards, 26 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Miami goes 10-3 and wins the ACC Coastal.

N’Kosi Perry:First start-2018 season

First start: 8-12 passing, 125 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Miami beats North Carolina 47-10.

Season stats (4 starts): 1,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Miami finished 7-6.
