The first of what will hopefully be many accolades for Miami’s signal caller

On Monday afternoon, the ACC announced their weekly awards. In that release, Miami QB Jarren Williams was named ACC Rookie of the Week.

Here’s a bit more narrative from Miami Athletics:

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami redshirt freshman quarterback Jarren Williams was named ACC Rookie of the Week after a standout performance against Bethune-Cookman, the conference office announced Monday.

Williams completed 79.2 percent of his passes in Saturday’s 63-0 win and set a career mark with three touchdown passes. Williams, who has started all three games for the Hurricanes, finished with 254 yards on 19-for-24 passing against the Wildcats.

On the season, Williams has thrown six touchdowns with no interceptions and he ranks fifth in the ACC with 777 passing yards. Williams’ pass efficiency rating of 164.6 is the third-highest mark in the conference.

Williams has stepped into the QB1 job for Miami and played well in the early stages of the 2019 season. As noted, he has 777 yards, 6 TDs, and 0 INTs while completing nearly 80% (!!!!!!!!) of his passes. For a team that has struggled the last 2 years with QB accuracy, this is a much welcomed change.

A redshirt freshman from Lawrenceville, GA, Williams will look to continue his strong play when the Hurricanes host Central Michigan at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Congrats, Jarren!!!
