State of Declarations

Justin Dottavio highlights the for the Hurricanes to look for the deep ball on offense in the latest edition of our Film Preview Series.

Last Game Without Bubba Bolden

In case you missed it, S Bubba Bolden was finally cleared by the NCAA and will be eligible to play on October 5th. Bolden, a transfer from USC, joined the Canes in training camp ahead of the season opener, but has been held out due to clearance issues with the NCAA. The redshirt sophomore will have the green light when the Virginia Tech Hokies visit Hard Rock Stadium in two weeks.

Saturday’s game against CMU will be see UM host over 2,000 players, coaches and parents to help celebrate Miami Xtreme Youth Football Day. Christy Cabrera Chirinos of hurricanesports.com spoke with Trajan Bandy and members of Miami’s coaching staff on the importance of growing the game.

Thursday Night Football Recap

DE Calais Campbell came up big for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. The ProCane veteran tallied seven tackles, three sacks, four tackles for loss and five QB hits to propel the Jaguars to a 20–7 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Non-Football Roundup

The regular season is underway for the seven men and eight women that make up the University of Miami Cross Country team. This afternoon the Canes will take part in the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational at the Buford Meredith Cross Country course in Blacksburg, Virginia. Start time is set for 5:30pm EDT.

Hurricanes Women’s Volleyball returns to action tonight after going 0–2 in the Add-Ran Cup last weekend. This weekend the ladies will take part in the Sunshine State Challenge in Orlando. The challenge pits Miami against Florida Gulf Coast, the University of Central Florida and Florida Atlantic University single day triple header. UM opens with FGCU at 10 AM this morning.

Estela Perez-Somarriba headlines UM Tennis as the Hurricanes begin regular season competition. Friday will see half the team take part in the Hurricane Invitational at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. The rest of the team will be in River Hills, Wisconsin participating in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.

Women’s Soccer returns to the pitch this Saturday. The Canes open up ACC competition against Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.

Some legends of Women’s Basketball paid a visit to Miami’s Coral Gables campus on Thursday. Team USA is held their training camp this week. Stars such as Diani Taurasi, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Sue Bird taking the court. Current UM stars G Mykea Gray and F Beatrice Mompremier are working with Team USA ahead of their FIBA AmeriCup tournament.
