Week 5 College Football Lines and Picks

Another chance to pull out of the mire of mediocrity.

NCAA Football: Central Michigan at Miami Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

I mentioned last week was a step forward towards mediocrity, arriving at .500. After 4-5-1 week (thanks for nothing, TCU and UCF), we have settling squarely in at the table of mediocrity, sitting at a bleh 19-20-1 on the season. As the underdog moneyline pick of the week is a joke of a pick anyways, against the longest odds that I wasn’t even counting anyways, there’s no more use in trying to pursue that. Yeah, yeah, cut me a break. Sometimes you just have to know when to fold’ em.

On to Week 5…

Lockity Lock of the Week

Wazzu at Utah; OVER 57. Come on. It’s a talented Mike Leach offense against a defense that we thought was very good, but let USC with an umpteenth-string QB roll up 30 points last week. And the Utes will get their share against a defense that at times forgets how to even play the sport of football. Giddy up for some scoring.

Other lines I like:

CLEMSON -27.5 at Unc. Watch, UM fans. This is going to be a hide your kids, hide your wives kind of blood bath that good teams put on bad ones.

NC STATE +7 at Florida State. This game will be close, simply because FSU doesn’t know how to play any other way. So I’ll take the points.

VIRGINIA +10.5 at Notre Dame. This will be the game everyone will be watching at 3:30, with Clemson and Bama flat-out crushing their opponents. The country is about to see why Virginia is going to win the coastal this year, as they’ll give ND a fight.

NEVADA -3 vs Hawai’i. I might be the only person who likes this, but Hawai’i has a dubious track record recently on the mainland, and we know Nevada can take care of business at home, as we saw against Purdue.

Teasers I like

AUBURN -3 vs Miss St; OHIO STATE -10.5 at Nebraska

SMU pick at S Florida; WASHINGTON -4 vs Usc

OKLAHOMA -20.5 vs Texas Tech; TEXAS A&M -16.5 vs Arkansas

PURDUE +8.5 vs Minnesota; Kansas at Tcu, OVER 41.5

Parlay of the week

5-bet moneyline parlay with double digit favorites that pays out at around -125. So if you’re up for cheering for a boring, uneventful, upset-free Saturday, this one’s for you....

TEXAS A&M vs Arkansas

WISCONSIN vs Northwestern

WASHINGTON vs Usc

AUBURN vs Mississippi State

OHIO STATE at Nebraska
