Miami earned yet another high preseason ranking on Monday, coming in at No.3 in D1Baseball’s preseason rankings. The Hurricanes were ranked just behind Louisville, who is becoming a consensus No.1, and Vanderbilt, the defending national champions. This is Miami’s third Top 10 ranking, in the last month the Hurricanes were ranked No.7 and No.4 by Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper respectively.

The ACC again had a strong showing in the poll. Miami was one of eight ACC teams ranked by D1Baseball. The other seven were the aforementioned Lousivlle at No.1, Florida State at No.12, Duke at No.15, N.C. State at No.16, Wake Forest at No.18, Georgia Tech at No.19, and North Carolina at No.23. Florida, whom Miami will face in the second weekend of the season, was ranked No.4.

The expectations for the 2020 team are higher than they’ve been for any team in more than a decade. The biggest test for the Hurricanes could be how they handle the pressure of being named one of America’s best teams, a pressure that no one on Miami’s roster has faced.

The Hurricanes hope to make a trip to Omaha for the first time since 2016. The road there won’t be easy, with one of the toughest schedules in the country to navigate. Miami will have plenty of opportunities to bolster their tournament resume and compete for a spot to host in May.
