The Miami Hurricanes earned their fifth Top 10 preseason ranking on Friday, coming in at No.7 in the preseason Coaches’ Poll. The ranking comes after Miami was ranked No.7 by Perfect Game, No.3 by D1Baseball, No.5 by Baseball America, and No.4 by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Miami is a consensus Top 10 team, with the most anticipation surrounding a Hurricanes squad since 2016, or possibly even 2008.

Eight ACC teams were ranked in the poll, with Louisville the highest ranked team from the conference at No.2. Miami’s opponent in the second week of the season, Florida, came in at No.10, and Florida State, the ‘Canes other in-state rival, came in at No.14.

ACC Coastal Division foes North Carolina, Duke, and Georgia Tech came in at No.16, No.20, and No.22 respectively, making Miami’s schedule one of the toughest in the nation. No.24 Wake Forest and No.18 N.C. State, neither of which the Hurricanes will play this regular season, rounded out the ranked conference teams in the poll.

The ACC continues to consistently have the second-most teams ranked in each poll, just behind the SEC. The conference may be the deepest it has been in recent memory, with multiple solid middle-tier teams in addition to top-tier contenders in the form of Louisville and Miami. In addition to the teams ranked, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Virginia, and a few other conference teams continue to receive votes in the polls and could quickly find themselves ranked with a good start to 2020.

Miami starts the season on February 14 against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The full preseason Coaches poll can be found here.
