Hurricanes Baseball Ranked in the Top 10 of Perfect Game Preseason Poll

The ‘Canes earned their second Top 10 preseason ranking on Wednesday

Miami earned it’s second preseason Top 10 ranking on Wednesday, coming in at No.7 in Perfect Game’s Preseason Poll. The Hurricanes are in the Top 10 of both polls that have been released, having come in at No.4 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll which was released last month.

The ‘Canes were among two ACC teams ranked in the Top 10, with fellow conference member Louisville earning the top spot in the poll. There were seven members of the ACC in the Top 25, two short of the leading total of nine held by the SEC. This sets up this ACC to again be one of the best baseball conferences in the country.

No.11 Duke, No.14 Florida State, No.17 North Carolina, No.21 North Carolina State, and No.25 Virginia are the ACC teams that join Miami and Louisville in the poll. The Hurricanes will play all of those teams except N.C. State this season. Miami adds another ranked opponent in No.13 Florida, who the ‘Canes take on in non-conference play.

It’s clear to see that the Hurricanes will face a tough challenge this season despite all the talent that returns to Coral Gables. There are four ranked teams in the Coastal Division, so winning the division for the first time since 2016 will be no easy task for Miami. Additionally, the Hurricanes two series against FSU and Louisville, the two highest ranked teams in the Atlantic Division, could make or break their chances for the No.1 seed in the ACC Tournament.
