After a week off, we’re back at it with a full(er) slate of games, now that the SEC has returned to action. Week 1 was a bloodbath for me, hitting on 2 and missing on 6 (thanks a lot, Big 12 pretenders). However, Week 2 was a full circle effort, with a clean sweep of 5-0 for the week. As such, I currently sit at a modest 7-6 as we enter October.
This week’s lines that I like...
East Carolina at Georgia State (-1). Georgia State took Louisiana-Lafayette to overtime a couple of weeks ago. They get in the win column this week.
Oklahoma State (21.5) at Kansas. Okie State burned me on a pick in this exact game 2 years ago with a straight up loss, but Kansas has somehow been worse than we all thought in the past month (if that’s possible). The hook doesn’t scare me. Chuba Hubbard goes nuts, and the ‘Pokes cover.
LSU at Vandy; OVER 51. LSU should be able to hit the upper 30s or 40s by themselves, as we saw last week they can still score points. However, their defense showed how badly NFL attrition hit them, and Vandy will do enough to get this total over the mark.
Virginia Tech (-11) at Duke. This feels more like a 17 or 18-point line, so I’ll take Tech -11 and run to the bank. They looked dominant even missing 23 players (!!!!) last week against NC State.
Auburn at Georgia; OVER 45. This seems like a lower scoring game based on last week, with Auburn struggling to put away Kentucky until late, and Georgia mustering only 5 first-half points in its comeback win over Arkansas. I think both sides have woken up a bit now, and we’ll see a few more fireworks than people think. This gets over the total late.
